Maybelline New York "Baby Lips" Lip balm review (Peppermint)

Finally after two weeks of waiting, my package arrived from the United States. I live in South America but my grandma is an American Citizen, living in New York. I asked her to send me the Maybelline Baby Lips in Peppermint, one of their clear lipbalms, as soon as I saw them on a youtube review. I am currently on my 8th month of accutane and it's a very strong drug that leaves my skin, lips, eyes and nose very dry. I started using Vaseline on my lips, but It was very oily and it didn't actually moisturise my lips, it only created a coat of faux-moisture and dried very fast making my lips crack faster; it was also very annoying to apply it with my finger, leaving it oily as heck as well. Then I switched to what I was using before trying Baby lips, which was Nivea Essential Care.

There was a gigantic difference between that old petroleum jelly and this new lip balm. Nivea Essential care was very moisturizing, it felt very rich on my lips, but the moisturising effect didn't last long, I had to keep reapplying very often and the product would last me a few weeks. It also left some gooey feeling on the inside of my lips that felt really weird and I didn't like. It also didn't have any SPF; but it smelled good. I kept using Nivea Essential care, because I couldn't find better lip balms for my dramaticly dry lips here in my country, until I saw Baby lips and I went to my local drugstore to the Maybelline counter and Nope... they didn't have it. It was only available in the U.S, Australia, Canada and a few other countries. But then I remembered... I have a grandma that could send me this thing just to try it out (because it sounded really promising) So I skyped her and explained my situation, she wrote down the name and scent. And she said she'd send me a few in a couple of weeks. So I waited.

Baby lips come in 6 shades: Peppermint (clear), Quenched (clear), grape vine (purplish red), pink punch (Barbie pink), Cherry me (cherry red), Peach Kiss (peachy nude)

All 6 shades in their cute packaging

When my package arrived I had gotten 5 baby lips. All Peppermint. My first impression is that the packaging was soooo pretty. It has a plasctic clear lid with purple "Baby lips" letters on it, and a lime green tube. When I took the lid off I rolled up the tube and I saw that it came with a fair enough amount of product.Actually Nivea Essential Care comes with a tiny bit more but it's a minimal difference (BL: 4,4 g /NEC: 4,8 g) The second thing I noticed is that it has a very subtle but lovely scent like actual peppermint, it's a minty and sweet smell. When I applied it, It glided easily through my lips. A thin coat was enough to make my lips feel moisturised. Nivea Essential Care left a somewhat thick coat of product which I didn't like, it was way too creamy for me. But baby lips, you don't even feel like you have something on but there's still a subtle sheen to it. It doesn't feel oily, neither does it feel too creamy or cakey. What I noticed Is that even if you keep applying several coats it's not going to feel like you have a huge amount of product on your lips, it feels as though you only applied it once; and it lasts a really long time. It says it lasts up to 8 hours; I actually haven't noticed that but I don't feel the need to keep reapplying so much as the Nivea lip balm. It leaves your lips really soft and there's huge plus...it has SPF 20, which is really important to me since due to accutane my skin becomes really sensitive to sunlight. I find this a very affordable product as well, It's definitely worth your money.

I would really recommend this to everyone really. If you're on accutane just like me and you're looking for a very moisturising lip balm, then this is it. If you have tried it, comment below and share your experience; I you haven't...would you buy it?

I'm still looking forward to getting the other shades, but so far this is the best lip balm I've ever tried. Hoped you enjoyed this Review and expect to see more coming.

I'm also on accutane, i've been wanting to try these but didn't know whether they were good while on this medication or not, so thanks c: Also, if you want another lip moisturizer, I DEFINATELY recommend Aquaphor lip repair. I've been using it since I started Accutane & its perfect. I absolutely hate chapstick or lip moisturizers, but Aquaphor is perfect, my lips haven't been dry at all unless I forget to put it on. Really an amazing product.

I was also on accutane two years ago, and I would have loved to have a product like these Baby Lips lipbalms! :)
